Elizabeth, Sydney: Flat Form

Teacher: Naohiro Kasuya
Ikebana school: Ichiyo School of Ikebana (一葉式いけ花)
Material: Aucuba, Bamboo Grass, Calla, Fatsia
Comment: I love interesting containers.  However, it is rather difficult to create a balanced composition which expresses the beauty of both, flowers and clay, without one of them being a dominant force.  This “Flat Form” was created in February this year.

Irene, Brisbane: Combined Style

Material: Succulent, Strelitzia flower, lemons and floating Keffir limes.
In this exercise I combined plant material with fruits. Tried to create some tension between the 2 very strong horizontal lines. The fruit works as focal point and the floating Keffir limes surprise the viewer.
