Semi-finalists for the 2012 Award

The Ikebana Gallery Award Committee is pleased to announce that the following 11 works have been selected as semi-finalists. Five finalists will be selected shortly from these semi-finalists.

We are very fortunate to receive significant support and advice in our selection process from a prominent Ikebana researcher, Dr Osamu Inoue from Kyoto University. Dr Inoue is a Professor of Ikebana (Saga Goryu) and teaches at Kita Shirakawa Club. http://kitashirakawaclub.jp/index.html

Our committee found that the selection process was not easy. As an award for Ikebana students, we valued both the basics of Ikebana and creativity in choosing the semi-final works. We believe that true creativity should be firmly based on the principles of Ikebana.

Thank you again for your contribution and support. Congratulations to the students whose works have been selected for the semi-final.
